    Hi all,

I'm getting this error when trying to use new_rewrite and mod_rewrite on my amember installation. The options are greyed out and just say (RewriteRule doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server) so I can't use them at all.

I've spoken to my webhost who is telling me that mod_rewrite is installed ok. And this certainly used to work as I have some folders protected by it and one day it stopped working.

I've been searching the forums and found lots of discussion but no definitive answers.

    When I do http://www.yoursite.com/amember/data/tests/mod_rewrite/1.php

    I get

    1-first_file

    When I do http://www.yoursite.com/amember/data/tests/mod_rewrite/2.php

    I get

    2-second_file

Does anyone have any ideas how to get this working so I can use mod_rewrite again?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Jason

I had this same issue and Alex in support gave me an update file to make it work.

    Are you with 1and1?

Not sure if the issues are the same but I'm on a shared host and they said that I can't get access to the httpconf file and mod_rewrite is enabled by default on their servers.

Mod_rewrite is not on by default in Apache as it can create a heave load on the server.

Best bet is to contact support, Alex works wonders!
