I'm not sure what to call this - I'm using the aMember trial version to see if it will work for a non-profit organization. When a user signs up, they will get newsletters and event updates. However, we also have special-interest groups they can join. There is no extra fee involved, but we want to keep track of which group they are in, so we can send them special info related only to that group. There are about a dozen special-interest groups now, and more will be added later. How can I set this up in aMember? Would each have to be a product? Ideally, I'd like to set up a list of the interest groups with check boxes and allow people to select the ones they'd like to belong to. I think of products as being the newsletter, events, and the interest groups as being a category of its own, with a bunch of sub-categories. When users choose what to sign up for, the interest groups should all be together, not mixed in with other "products", if that makes sense. I do basic PHP/MySQL programming. What would be options? I'm going to have more questions as I go along, but this is the first hurdle. Also, if anybody is using the software for membership management of a non-profit organization, please let me know. I'd like to see your site.
The other things I'd like to do... I may as well list the other things I need to do. When I look at this list, I wonder if any software can easily do all these things! 1. Already posted in the previous message. 2. Event calendars: We need at least one, and a way for members to RSVP for events. Ideally, each special-interest group would have a calendar. 3. We need to track volunteers, and would like a way that volunteers can sign up to help out in general and at specific events. 4. Basic functions would include opting out of future mailings, and updating their contact info. 5. We would like to track donations, both cash and non-cash. Companies can donate meeting rooms, A/V for an event, etc. Is this possible? 6. We will sell memberships at different levels (individual, corporate, etc.). 7. This may be a tough one. We will have other non-profit orgs that we would like to be able to post their own announcements, so that member group would have special privileges.
