I have wordpress and amember on the same domain, but the protection is giving me trouble. I'm using php include via the manual way because evidently hostgator.com doesn't have php compiled as an apache module. Support said it is cgi and surphp (what ever that is) So I put the php include call at the top of index.php of wordpress and it rocks for protection, at least as far as asking for the login. However, if I as the *administrator* go to the wordpress site even while loged in to amembrer cp I'm asked to login. Even if I'm logged in to the wordpress admin area I'm still asked to login when I click the view "site name" link at the top. Though since the admin area for wp is under /admin I can do all the editing and administrating of wp I want. I created my own user in wp for the admin and deleted the default admin user for security reasons. The new user has the same username and pwd as my amember admin. What do I need to do to give myself access to my own protected area? I have the wordpress plugin from amember so my clients are copied into the wp db from the amember db. I set up the plugin and rebuilt the db, but still have this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
You should use Ken Garys amprotect plugin rather than php include- you are making more work than you need to. In your setup, i think you will need to create a new user in amember and give them a product with admin settings for wordpress. David
Ok, just purchased the plugin and installed it on the wp install that is powering the clients area...sweet action! I also read about the rest of his plugins and I want to buy them all. Not sure how I would use all of them yet, but it blows the roof off of the possibilities with amember. And I just loooooove, the amail plugin for aweber, that is exactly what I need...Ken is my new best buddy.
