Greetings. First let me thank you for this program. While I am having problems with it, I know the problems are my own. I uploaded the program to my web site. I created a folder in my www folder called amember, and then created the data, admin, templates etc folders inside the amember folder. I uploaded all of the files into the appropriate folders. (In binary mode where applicable.) I also created the config.inc.php and config_plugins.inc.php files as required and placed those in the /amembers folder. When I input the url to setup the program, it displays the code. Any page I access (amember/anyfile.php) it only displays the code in my browser. The site is a non profit organization so I am not to worried about the payment items. I just need to get the members area up and running. I would consider myself "advanced" in html and JS, but quite lacking in asp, php, pearl etc. I double checked my provider, (Activehost.com) and they do support Pearl, and nearly everything else. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I have browsed through your site, and this forum extensively. The support you offer within this forum, and emails is extraordinary. You are to be commended, with a huge thank you. Regards, DCFC
Looking at your hosts site I would suspect you are on a windows server and there is no ability to run PHP. I think you will need to check this with them, but it sure sounds that way.
Thank you for the quick reply. I know when I check supported "programs" it lists asp, cgi, etc. However I performed a search in technical support, and could find no instance of php so you are probably right. It is a windows server, so I probably cannot run amember. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. I need to set up a members area for about 50 people. I need to allow logins which will take the member to their own page. From their page they should be able to email another member, or all members. They should be able to edit their personal data (email phone, address etc), and view all other members data. They should also be able to edit their password. As I stated it is a non profit, volunteer organization resposible for performing search and rescue missions, so I haven't a lot of money to spend on a program. Do you think I am asking a lot, or perhaps maybe you have a suggestion? Any help is more than appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, DCFC
You can run PHP on a windows server and people have aMember on Windows servers as far as I know. However this does not seem to be an option with your host. I would suggest you go along to http://www.hotscripts.com/ and look at user management scripts in the ASP area. I don't know anything about ASP so cannot give any recommendation, though one called the Spooky Login I have heard good things about. Alternatively you could move to a *nix host. Then you would be able to use the best script there is - aMember
