    Hi,

I have added new products which use a number of custom fields. I wish to send a sign-up email informing the customer what information they have entered on the signup form. Although my standard memberships send e-mail fine, in this case I cannot get any emails to be sent.

I think I have found all the relevant settings - reset days counter to zero, send customized signup email, etc.

I even tried sending a periodic automatic email.

I was testing it on a subscription with my own email address in it and changing signup date, etc. and then running the CRON job to see if an e-mail would come. Nothing comes.

All emails on my standard products seem to work.

    Hi,

In the meantime I have found another fact from another similar posting - you can set the number of days for the automatic email to 0 which means immediate. I did try a value of 0 in the automatic email and it did not yield an email. I think perhaps the problem lies with the price group (which is negative) or (more likely) with the price of the product, which is free.

    Hi,

I am making progress - I got it to work by setting the number of days to 0. Must have done something wrong the first time.

Now the problem is that the email does not display some of the fields - the SQL textarea fields show up blank and the multi-select fields have the word "array" beside them. I assume that these will require either a function or some programming to get them to show up.

Has anyone seen anything on this?

Yep, the trick to email with products is checking the Use Customized Signup E-Mail, and also adding the same email to Send Automatic Emails day 0. this way they get the signup email if they buy that product 1st or 2nd.

Hi David - I've just found that out the hard way (ie a second signup email won't go out for an added product if the user has already received a welcome signup before from a prior subscription). Very odd behaviour really - if someone buys a new product and I've configured it to send a customized welcome email, I'd expect it to do exactly that.

The issue now is that a brand new, never before subscribed purchaser receives the welcome email twice. Not a great solution & makes us look like we have buggy software.

Have you found any workarounds that allow a signup email to go out if they buy that product 2nd? (without sending TWO to someone who buys it first!)

    Thanks

    Robert

Turn off the email on signup in the main amember setup / email, and only use the product emails.

Thanks David - that's what I did have (ie signup email not checked in CP, and each product has it's own custom signup email) and discovered that an existing subscriber who bought another product (or upgraded from a free product) were not getting the signup email. (Though if I manually re-sent it, no problem, it came through instantly - so I know it's not a sending or spam issue).

For the moment I've switched all add-on products to use the autoresponder at "0" days instead of the welcome email as neither I nor my programmer could work out what was going on ..

Maybe I should submit a ticket (also need to upgrade as I'm on 3.1.4) as from what you are saying, my previous settings should have worked ...

    Thanks for the reply!

    Robert
