    Hello,

Someone know if it is possible to put the Signup fields after the Paypal process, in this case the Membership type with product will be display alone and first.
    The process will be :
step 1 : Membership type with product price
step 2 : Payement on Paypal
step 3 : the signup fields

In this case, the field of the email, last name, name and country can be automatically filled , right ?

    Thx

the issue you may have is what record does the payment get applied to and what if they, for some reason, abandon the signup process and the payment is orphaned?

I suppose you could create a temp account, apply payment and use the signup form to change the details of the temp account?

Just out of curiosity, what is your motivation for reversing the process?

    You are absolutely correct Skippy.
This is the second request today for this mod from a user.
I gave basically the same answer as yours to the same question posed by another user.

There is also a valid marketing reason to not performing the process the way requested, and that is if the payment fails to go through at least you have full followup marketing information of the intended buyer.

The danger of orphaned payments ESPECIALLY if the credit card details differ from those of the buyer (eg a company csard, a friends card, a gift card) is that you cannot even necessarily contact the correct person fom card details.
The reason given for the request in the previous post was they believed the rate of signups that pull out before completing payments was too high.

I can tell you our rate of mid transaction bailout previously measured on over 1,000 signups was 1.8 % (18 in 1,000), which is what Id expect to be normal.

A measurable bailout rate is always going to happen for at least two reasons

    1. Inadequate balance on users card
    2. Problems with payment gateway at time of transaction
    3. Computer browser lockup or internet network problem

If your cancellations are high then its more than likely that your sales copy is deficient and that would be a far better place to start rather than make changes to software that would present extremely significant accounting risks such as a pay before signup model. It violates all accepted accounting standards.

Thank you very much for your full explain calisolllc, now I have the confirmation that's not a good idea :D

just a question, do you propose your service for aMember customization ?

My reason was the following :
User don't really like form so when they start the process to subscribe they don't really know a little boring form is waiting them after paid, then they have no choice to fill it and it's too late to cancel ! lol

So I have created another post :

    http://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?p=27748#post27748

It's about the automatically filled fields (taken from the signup page just before) on Paypal website when the user don't have a paypal account, there's some change made recently by Paypal about that so I need to have your feedback.

    Thx a lot
