Hi, I have an established SMF forum which has paid members. I have just installed aMember and all has gone smoothly BUT I can't get aMember to recognize any of the members that already exist in the SMF database. I know things are working to an extent because if I try to register a new member, via aMember, using a username that already exists in the SMF forum it does not allow me to do it. When logged in to the aMember CP, it does not show any members either. Is there something I have missed? If I protect the folder which contains the forum then none of the current forum members can log in. I don't know how to fix this.
You should import your curret users into aMember.Unfortunately you will need to generate new passwords for users when export because passwords in SMF are encoded. After import click Rebuild DB (this will sync passwords in SMF) and then email all users with new passwords info.
Do you know how to export members from the SMF? Sorry if that sounds lazy but I can't find a way of doing this from the admin panel of the SMF forum. So after I have imported all the users in to the aMember DB is there a simple way to generate and email the passwords or does that have to be done one member at a time? Thanks in advance for your help.
i'm not familiar with SMF but if such functionality is not available in SMF itself, you always can export from SMF database directly using phpMyAdmin In regards to generate password, you can do this when you will import into amember. Then aMember CP -> Email users to send email with new info to all users in one go.
