I've successfully installed the SMF plugin into aMember, and by successful I mean that no error messages appear after I've hit "Save." Everything looks kosher, however when I created a test account I didn't see one automatically made in SMF.

According to what I've read here, the way these plugins work is that if someone logs in/registers on aMember, they'll also be logged in on the forum (or a forum account will be generated for them).

Have I got this assumption wrong? If not, then obviously I've missed a step, because nothing is happening on the SMF-side. The lack of documentation has been, well, quite hazy.

Well, I've asked and received the "fully working" version of the plugin, and it successfully detects my membergroups. But, whenever I create, and even pay for, test accounts, it doesn't create any accounts in the SMForum. Needless to say, single-login isn't working either.

Here's what my plugin looks like. Any idea what may still be wrong?

    Okay....new question:

Does the SMF plugin require being in the SAME MySQL database as aMember? Right now I have my website and aMember in one database, and SMF in another, for protection purposes.

Supposedly, by keeping them separate I've heard that if one crashes/gets hacked, it won't bring the other down.

Could this be the reason why my SMF plugin isn't working properly?

"MySQL Database Hostname" is almost always "localhost"...are you sure you have that entered correctly? As well, if it's not auto-detecting the settings have you tried to grant the amember database user to the database you are using for the forums? SMF and amember don't need to be in the same database but by granting the user for the amember database privileges on your smf database it's generally easier to work with.

What do you have selected in the product part of your integration? For the specific product you should have the option to integrate with your smf forum and assign the product to a specific group in amember....If you have the plugin page set up correctly but not the product to include smf integration upon signup that could be an issue. I don't use that particular plug-in and instead phpBB3's but imagine they are very similar.

Got it! I wasn't aware I had to check each of my products and set them to integrate with SMF and set them to specific memebergroups. Before I installed the SMF plugin those fields hadn't appeared.

    Thanks much, I owe you.

ok I have it setup - but when I add an account manually it doesnt register a user. I have not test it when someone purchases but would like to have it when I add users manually.

does this plugin do that? if so how do I get it to work.

I don't believe so. All my test accounts were made through the member sign-up page, but using 100% off coupons....so they are considered Free Signups by aMember. No SMF accounts were automatically created for those accounts. I'm guessing that accounts manually created through the aMember Admin CP are also considered Free Signups.

    Keep tinkering with it.
