I have about 20,000 members and use two plugin's, so the rebuild process is very slow. After trying two multi hour attempts at doing a re-build, I found that when I first enter the admin area, it was taking about 5+ seconds for any data to pop up on my screen. I'm on a dedicated server, so that couldn't be the problem. Once I checked the database, I found a lot of overhead, so I went in and manually selected the problem areas for indexing. After this was completed, the system was lightning fast again. While the system was in this previously bogged down state, I also noticed that sales were way down from normal levels, probably because customers did not want to wait for the database to respond. The next day, sales improved dramatically! It would be nice if there was a cron job that could be run weekly to do this periodic indexing for me. Any ideas? Also, I wonder what ever happened to version 4 of aMember?
similar situation Hi, I'm in a very similar situation; dedicated server with 20,000 + members. And going from signup.php to the payment gateway, is about 12 seconds, and I'm sure it must be causing us to lose some sales... Anyway, I'd be interested to know how you sped it up? How exactly did you reindex it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
increase in sales Hi, I just found this post which really helped speed up my database. I'm hoping that this will increase my sales, because they've dropped by about 30% recently. Perhaps because of this issue? Customers were waiting 15 seconds when submitting the signup.php page. I'm curious, what % did your sales increase after fixing this issue up? I'll keep you posted...
