    Hi all,

First: I'm new to CGI and to this forum, too. Please excuse my poor english, i'm from germany and hadn't had the chance to write/speak english for 4 years now.

Ok...let's begin with describing the problem.

I'd setup a CGI IRC Bot on a W2k Adv./IIS server with SP4 and the latest ActivePerl. When i call the bot by typing http://www.hostname.com/cgi-bin/bot/bot.cgi a configurationpage appears and i can start the bot bye pressing the "start and connect" -button. When i take a look at the irc channel a few seconds later, the bot joins the channel and it seems everything is fine. Then, 5 minutes after the bot signed on, the bot don't respons to any commands. 5 minutes after that, he signs off with a "Operation timed out" error.

Is there anyone who can give an advice how to solve this problem? I setuped the same bot, with the same active perl package on a w2k prof system with SP4 without a problem. The bot stays in the irc channel till the internet connection of the workstation is terminated by the provider every 24 hours. Because the server is connected with a T3 line to the internet i would like to run the bot on it.

    What to do?

    Greetz,

Btw. The bot, ment in this post is this one http://www.macurious.com/free/ircbot/agbot/. If there's anybody out there, who knows a better one which is for free, please message me.

Wow, I had no idea amember also produced a chat product.

    :)

On the remote chance that amember doesn't do a chat product, what a bizzare place to look for help.
