Ok, I learned with my first post....READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. I did that on my last problem and did figure it out. This seems to be a little unique. I read the instructions on how to transfer to a new host as carefully as I could but not having success. Here is some background. Our club was hosted for free by a local company for many years and I believe the hosting company did the original install. Over time we had little success in managing the overall site and all the amember feature. We were not allowed ftp access which made things difficult. So, they brought me on board to build a new site. I was going to use a different membership solution but as I did a test install on my mediatemple hosting, I liked what I saw. I was able to do a fresh install, and import the membership names, albeit there were many discrepancies due to human input inconsistencies. I also did a "backup" of the sql database from the original install. We finally got the original host to send us a link of all of our files in the server sequence. It looks like the amember folder was renamed to membership (which follows the line of the install instructions to rename the folder). Within that folder the file structure was different than the new one I did in a different folder and what was in the directions. So, I am guessing maybe 3.0? Anyway, I changed the server login from my new config.php file to the file config.inc.php (per my attached image). When I changed the login info and connect to my DB, I get this error message: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in So, is there a way to take my exported .sql file from the old/active membership to my new install? Or, any ideas how I should proceed? Thanks in advance.
I apologize...how did this end up in Templates customization? Can this thread be moved to troubleshooting please? Thanks
Robert, So as I have understood you have amember v4 installed on new server and you have backup from old server with aMember v3 and database is this correct? If so, You should restore v3 sql dump file into any database within your hosting Control panel. Then from amember v4 use /amember/admin-import3/ in order to transfer all products/users from v3 database.
