I am setting up amember on my site and wish to use new_rewrite as the folder protection method.

I am hosted on rackspace with their Cloud Sites service.

amember says: RewriteRule doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server

    rackspace says:

On Cloud Sites, due to our unique hosting environment, we require a slight addition to the code used for mod_rewrite.

In the .htaccess file containing your rewrite rules, after RewriteEngine on, add RewriteBase /. Example:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteBase /

Depending on the application, you may need to further specifiy the RewriteBase / to include the subdirectory the application is installed in. For example:

    RewriteBase /subdirectory

Does anybody know how I use this information to solve the problem so that I can use new_rewrite?

    Thanks - Richard

I am using godaddy to host amember and want to use the new_rewrite to protect folders, but keep getting this error. new_rewrite (RewriteRule doesn't work in .htaccess files on this server). How do I fix this to make it available to host on godaddy? I spoke with godaddy and they had no idea. Thanks.
