    Hi there

I have tried to find an answer on the forum, but everyone's sites are set up differently so I

thought I would pose a question for some advice please.

My site is structured as follows.

I have a protected member folder.

I have a main index in that folder that gives members access to every file in various sections,

lets say, access to content in folder

    A
    B
    C
    D

Now, all my pages have an menu where members can navigate through all the various folders,

    they have full access.

Say now I want memberships where people can have access to specific folders, like if they only

wanted the content I have to offer which is found in folder B......

Do I protect folder B as well, remember that folder B is already in the member folder which is

    already protected?

Say now a client buys access to folder B only, but all my pages are the same for all the pages

with the same navigation menu as they are based on a template, the links to folders A C D will be

available, I suppose they would have to enter a password should they try and access the other

folders outside of folder B? Is this correct?

Is there a better way I should set up the structure or is this way acceptable.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

let me paraphrase what I think you are saying:

You have potentially 5 types of memberships

    1. Access to content A
    2. Access to content B
    3. Access to content C
    4. Access to content D
    5. Access to content A,B,C,D

If this is the case, you have a couple of options:

    1. you could leave the links and prompt for password. this would provide for an opportunity to market the product to users by redirecting them on a failed or canceled sign in.

    2. you could code to show or not show the links depending on who is logged in and what access they have (if the links get out you will fall back on option 1)

I would go for option 1 to increase your opportunity for sales/cross selling.

Thanks for replying skippybosco, some food for thought there.

I have little time to activate my new site (as I transferred to a new hosting company and have a temp url and my domain will expire) I will implment the added features (memberships) once I have the site up and running.

I think I would just create a duplicate folder, say of folder B and have a membership that points to that folder only.

    Thanks again.

    Regards

    one level protection

    Hi skippybosco

    my problem is as follows:

i have one folder which contains 3 subfolders

the users will be requesting access to subfolders directly from my website the links on my website are as follow:

    http://mydonaine/amember/folder/subfolder1
    http://mydonaine/amember/folder/subfolder2
    http://mydonaine/amember/folder/subfolder3

i would like to grant any user free access to any subfolder but he needs to sign up once.

i dont want to user to login to his member page after signing up, i would like him to access directly to the subfolder requested before sign up.

    Amember setup should be straightforward..

1 product, set to free, that has access to all 3 folders.. (or if this is your only product, set protection to "any active subscription"

when you say "access directly to the subfolder" do you mean a page that list the files? Do you have a page with links?
