Could this software be potentially used to be a member bridge between the two applications? I see support for both applications. So maybe if a member signs up on amember it would then create a member in Vbulletin AND Expression Engine?
That is great to hear. How about this. I have an existing memberbase in Vbulletin. Could the Vbulletin members be imported to Amember then from there exported to Expression engine using the amember software? I would really need Vbulletin, Amember AND Expression engine to be syncronized using the already existing memberlist in Vbulletin. is that possible using Amember and the right vbulletin and Expression Engine plugins?
Actually, one more question. When someone logs into Amember would it also log that person onto Vbulletin AND Expression Engine?
Import is possible, but you will have to generate new passwords for customers, because passwords in vBulletin are one-way encrypted. Yes, IF USER logs-in via aMember, it is logged to other 2 scripts. Unfortunately, If users logs-in to vBulletin, he does not become logged-in to EE, and vice-versa.
Ok, great. So far so good. I'm sorry, I do have a few more questions though How would the process go for the resetting of VB passwords? Would that be a function that could be done in Amember? If so, would all the members recieve an email with a new password? How would that process work. Also, we are using some custom fields in Vbulletin. Is there any way to make a relation using Amember to bridge custom profile fields from one app to another? If someone signs up using Amember could we specify custom profile fields in Amember that would update likewise custom profile fields in Vbulletin and Expressin Engine?
Yes, this could be done from aMember. Procedure is the following: 0. You backup everything and all MySQL databases from webhosting CP. 1. You export users (at least username, email) from vBulletin to a comma-separeted text file. Please remove admins from this file - you should not add admins to aMember as users. 2. You import users to aMember using aMember CP->Import and generate new passwords for them during import. 3. You configure vBulleting plugin and products integration as described in the plugin readme. 4. Click aMember Cp -> Rebuild Db. aMember will update user access rights and passwords in vBulletin database. 5. Click aMember Cp->EMail Users and you will be able to email all of them their new passwords. aMember by default does not handle custom fields in plugins at all.
Ahhh, all was perfect until custom fields. Your amember application seems incredibly nice and can bridge a number of other applications. If only there was a way to at the very least carry over one custom field from amember to a custom field to vbulletin then this would be the way to go. I really want this to work .... somehow. Any ideas? We need 1 custom field applicable to vbulletin to be specified in the signup process. There is just no way around it.
It is not a standart feature, but of course, it is possible to do as additional quick customization, just described it in your installation request.
Can you direct me to documentation on the installation and functions of the Expression Engine plugin?
