    Hi aMember users,

I'm currently deciding on which membership software to go with. ( I have a phpbb forum which I'd like to turn into a membership site).

I'm looking at all the potential plugins that work for aMember. From your experience,

    1) Which payment system do you like the best and why?
    2) What other plugins do you use that you think have been a 'must-have' for your communities?

    Thanks

    Rita

Paypal, together with JAM for the affiliate tracking is working good so far.
Are you using a CMS system? I've tried wordpress and joomla, and like joomla better.

    Hi David,

Can you tell me what JAM is? I see that aMember has affiliate tracking, but do I need something in addition to that?

I don't have a CMS system yet, and am considering Joomla. Is Joomla pretty easy to use? I'm not a programmer, so I'd prefer a simple WYSIWYG type of editor. I'll be adding multimedia. Does that work well with Joomla?

JAM is an affiliate system. Its more in depth than the aMember affiliate system. But if you just want a 1 tier system, then aMember is fine.

Joomla is an excellent CMS once installed and integrated with aMember. The integration can be a bit tricky, and would require some very basic editing of the joomla code. Wordpress is a bit simpler. Both can handle multimedia.

I agree, joomla works great with amember, and the small code changes are only really required if you are using a search engine friendly joomla module (since the amember mod uses the actual joomla php link rather than the seo link, so you need to edit the code for these links, but it can be done.

Have a looka t this site (still working on it, look at the bottom left and click, do not have an account yet, and you will see how the link works within Joomla and amember.

What should I use - please help

I am looking for an integration for aMember that will allow me to do the following.

1- sign up for a free account and post a classified or message (potential project) This member can only view or edit thier own account message.

2- sign up for a paid membership and be able to view and contact all of the free classifieds or messages.

I am not sure whether a forum script or joomla would work better for this project. Does anyone have an advice they can share?
