What is the best way to cancel a membership when using 1shoppingcart?
    Is it:

1 - expire their user on amember (I don't think this is it)
2 - hold their recurring payment on 1shoppingcart?
3 - input the number of billing charges into the filed "recurring count" so it tricks 1shoppingcart to think that it has reached the max recurring payments and stops charging them?

    Thanks!

    anyone?

What I am asking is if a member asks for their membership to expire at the end of this payment period/paid subscription how do you set it up so it expires/doesn't charge them at the end of the current paid subscription?

I've got the same questions. Naturally if someone asks to be canceled this month, they still want to receive the rest of the month since they have paid for it. Does anyone have an answer for this?

    According to 1shoppingcart....

I spoke to 1Shoppingcart Tech support and they said the onloy way to stop recurring payments is manually by logging into your 1Shoppingcart account.

I was not too happy with that answer.

If anyone comes up with an automated way to do these cancelations please post it.

    Thanks

I haven't tried seeing what the Hold status does within 1SC and its effect on amember. I know when I was in a test trial that when I stopped recurring within 1SC that it immediately send a cancel transaction to amember and the subscription showed as expired.

Anyone tried HOLD? Is that the right way to stop a recurring and have it expire at the end of the term?

How to cancel subscription with recurring charge set through 1shoppingcart?

I have done a lot of research on the forum, but still don't see the clear answer on how to get UNSUBSCRIBE implemented in the set-up.

At the present time, when user log-in at member.php, he/she sees:
    Your Membership Information
    Your Subscriptions * ...
Newsletter Subscriptions 0 Unsubscribe from all e-mail messages
    Useful Links
    Logout
    Change Password/Edit Profile
Advertise our website to your friends and earn money
    Add/Renew subscription
    Membership Type *
    Your payment history

When user clicks on "Change Password/Edit Profile", there is:
    First & Last Name
    Email Address
Change Password (Leave blank to keep unchanged)
Confirm Password (Leave blank to keep unchanged)

There is no UNSUBSCRIBE button and I can't figure it out!!! How do I get unsubscribe button to the "Your Membership Information" page? Why it's not there already, as a pre-set option? I absolutely dislike when I can't unsubscribe and I am sure my clients would be very upset if I keep them hostages.

Someone on the forum suggested Add Fields (from Utilities). This adds field to "Change Password/Edit Profile". Still, the form has following fields to fill out: Name(internal) Title(for display) Field Type Display Type Validation function Order. I have no idea what should I put in.

    ANYBODY, HELP PLEASE!

Also, I created a test user, subscribed for recurring billing to test, then deleted the subscription from aMember CP. Well, my credit card just got hit with a recurring charge. I checked 1shoppingcart - the recurring billing was never canceled. How does this work? I don't want to get any chargebacks for erroneous charges. I have Wordpress/aMember/1ShoppingCart set-up. What should I do, to ensure that when the user UNSUBSCRIBES (after you help me with the first part :) ), his/her credit card is not charged again?

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately there is no way to cancel recurring subscription from aMember if you use 1SC plugin. This is integra'tion API limitation. Subscription should be cancelled from your 1SC account. In aMember payment will be disabled automatically at the end of paid period.

Thanks a lot for the answer.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to go around it? What is API and why aMember can't pass the "UNSUBSCRIBE" information through, as it does with "SUBSCRIBE"? I feel like it opens a wide door for trouble, and in the best case scenario will limit the number of orders, in the worst case - shut the merchant account.

    - Should I create an "UNSUBSCRIBE" link that will open a form that sends e-mail to the admin with the request for cancellation (how do I do that)?
    - Should I switch from 1shoppingcart to something else?
    - Should I get some alternative to aMember?

Can anyone give the suggestion or share the secrets of your set-up (if you have one that works)?

I really would appreciate your help!

    Thanks in advance, Anjelina.

it's because amember just passed the subscribe information (customer details) along with the product # to 1SC... and leaves the rest up to 1SC shopping cart to do.

now, if 1SC's shopping cart had a feature where you could pass the customer name/number and reverse the process, then I can see how aMember could pull that off... but since 1SC doesn't have that feature, you gotta do it manually through 1SC (or ask their developers to put it together).

    suspend recurring order now

I had the same question (I'm currently setting up amember and 1shoppingcart) and was wondering about 'suspending recurring order now' link which can be found in orders/recurring orders/edit (on clients details in 1SC). Nobody mentioned this and just thought i'd throw it in the discussion. I just tested this and it seems to be or at least act exactly like putting someones account on hold. I suspended a test client and its currently still allowing me access to my protected directory (which is a good thing, for this billing cycle at least) and I guess I will have to wait to see if I will be charged again? Hopefully not. Would it be easier to just delete the user in 1SC? I know alexander said to 'cancel' their subscription, but does 'cancel' mean hold or suspend or delete in 1SC?

    Recurring with 1SC and aMember

    Hello Vince,

I've done the same in my test product, I'll know what occurs on the 12th since this test product recurs ever two days. I've suspended the recurring changes in 1sc, which puts an on-hold status on the account. This isn't reported back to the aMember product but what I believe will happen is that after an attempt by aMember to charge for the recurring product which should fail since 1SC is set on-hold then aMember will suspend/inactivate the account.

We'll see if this works as expected?

Unfortunately for aMember the API exposed by 1SC is minimal when it comes to Customers or any type of update. They allow you to list details but modifications can't be done through the API. I even asked for a simple addition to the API, listing products in a particular category but that isn't supported either. Or listing customers subscribed to a particular product. The standard answer I got was maybe in a future release? They say updates aren't supported because of PCI-DSS compliance but that seems bogus since they have the same level of compliance as IPCommerce and that API allows updates.
