I currently have new_rewrite protection on my WordPress blog. I'd like to upgrade WordPress to version to 2.8.1, but I'm afraid it's going to mess up my current protections. I currently have a merged WP and aMember .htaccess file. Will an upgrade to the new WP version necessitate totally redoing the protection on my folders? I had to submit a help ticket to get the protections working so I'd like to avoid having to do that again. If I do have to redo the protection, any tips on how to make sure I can redo the protections without help from Alex again?
What version of wordpress are you moving from? This shouldnt affect the folder protection- check to make sure the update doesnt have a .htaccess file, or this may overwrite the current amember one. David
I'm upgrading from 2.7.1 to 2.8.1. And I'll likely do just the automatic upgrade through the WP dashboard. Could I just save the contents of the aMember .htaccess if WP overwrites it? Then copy/paste if necessary?
