I am looking to install Wordpress onto our web site and have it integrate with aMember. Is there a possibility that Wordpress will install over my host account default database? In otherwords, how do I find the name of the current SQL aMember database?

How do you add SQL databases? My host doesn't use anything fancy like cPanel, unfortunately. Do I need a 3rd party application to do this?

To install wordpress you'll need to create a new mysql database in your control panel first.

I haven't seen any web hosts that would automatically install a new database over an existing one. It would most likely fail with an error.

Your web host should allow you to set up as many separate databases as you want and each application (amember, wordpress etc.) will use a separate one.

As for adding a database, it depends on your web host.

Personally I'd recommend using a web host with a decent control panel such as cpanel - makes things a whole lot easier.

    Thanks for the reply.

As a follow-up, a coder told me that the way to do this is install Wordpress with a database prefix, such as "wp_". I think this already happens automatically.

I agree about the web host--there are lots of hosts with better admin functionality out there.
