Hello I need to protect content on a wp blog, I know Amember makes a plugin to do this and there are a couple of options including teh beta one. I am over worked at the moment and very limited on time. What I am looking for is a simple solution that works. Someting that does not require a lot of time to configure setup and maintain. Can someone please provide me with pros and cons to the different options? Which one is the perferred method. I am not concerned with cost. Thanks Rob
Quick question I have been messing around with the WP plugin but I can't seem to get the logins to work properly. When I log in I am only logged into one system. Is this normal?
Grant I just purchased aMember and bought the Wordpress plugin aMember sells. How is that plugin different from the amProtect plugin that you recommend? I think I want to achieve a similar outcome to Rob. Sharon
Sharon, I mainly recommended amProtect because Rob said this: IMHO, I think when "all the smoke clears" the 2nd Gen aMember / WordPress plug-in is going to be the best option. It is feature rich, handles incremental delivery and will be available at no cost. To learn more about all three options read this post. I am running digitalliteracyproject.com with the 2nd Gen plugin with no problems. I wish Alex would put the selling of the 1st Gen on hold (or at least post info about the 2nd Gen on the sales page) since the 2nd Gen is workable, better than the 1st Gen, and will be available at no charge. Hope this makes sense.
Thank you for this Grant. Would I have to remove the original wp plugin I purchased and had installed for me before uploading this new beta version? Sharon
Yes, just go to the plugin page on the WP admin page and Deactive > Then > Delete Gen 1 Plugin, then install Gen 2 plugin. The second version of the Gen 2 plug is due out any day. I would wait for it at this point. Sorry you have had so much drama trying to set up the integration. If all you need is this plug installed and setup send me a PM, I will be glad to make it happen for you. You can also use the contact form on my website which is listed in my footer.
Public Service Announcement Clarification When Sharon paid for an aMember/WordPress plug-in that is inferior to the an aMember/WordPress plug-in that is in development and is available at no charge, I felt bad for her experience. Because of this, I offered to install the 2nd Gen plug-in for her (20 minutes of work). I like to help when help is due, but I make my living as a school teacher and there are others that help on this board that do make a living with installations. Therefore, I recommend those wanting to pay for help to use someone such as David @ Membership Academy, who does make a living doing this type of work. *********************************************************** Alex, Continuing to sell the 1st Gen WordPress plug-in when there is one under development that is superior and available at no cost is causing a lot of confusion and most likely is creating a public relations situation. Can we fix this somehow? Getting the other plug-in out of beta and replacing the Gen 1 with the Gen 2 seems to be the easiest way to me. **********************************************************
Hey Grant, Appreciate the link to info on my site As for beta vs. existing plugin- I am not yet recommending the beta to my members or amember users on the forum here. Its still in beta, which means it shouldnt be used by people new to amember or sites in which a bug or other issue could cause them losses. I actually think Alex should hide the beta thread now that he has testers, or put a big warning message on it about what beta means. For the moment, I still suggest using the traditional amember plugin in combination with amprotect. Not free, but works very well and stable. Once the amember plugin comes out of beta and is stable that will probably replace the above combo. David
